Key Leader Camp@MyGopengResort

DAY 1 22 November 2009
We all are having a great time at MyGopengResort@Gopeng, Perak. Here is how all of us started this amazing journey. From Penang, we travel to Butterworth by ferry service.
Upon arriving Butterworth, we boarded a Bus Sekolah and pickup the participants from CLHS Butterworth and SMJK Jit Sin.
After a few hours of bus ride, we went to Gopeng Bus Station and boarded a LORRY! We were so excited as we are all first timer. The ride was quite enjoying with the cold breeze flowing through your body. The road was bending here and there and the driver had to hon each time at the corner to prevent accident. After 20minutes of lorry ride, finally we reached our resort. Upon arriving the resort, the lead facilitators and chairman of key leader introduce us to our own students facilitators and the Five Key Leader Principles :
-Personal Integrity
-Personal Growth
-Respect
-Building Community

After that, we went to lunch . After lunch and settled down, we had out first neighborhood meetings to discuss about the cheers. After that Heidi give us a speech on Service Leadership.
Then, we went for teabreak. After teabreak, Olivia gave us time to discuss in neighbourhood and create our own perfect key leader. After that, we were allowed to shower and had our dinner. Finally we are going for night jungle walk. It was an extraordinary experience for all of us because it was very slippery and challenging. During the walk, we need to turn off torchlight for some time to avoid attracting aggressive animals such as snake, monkey and so on. It was totally dark when there is no light and you can only hold your friend hand that helps and guide you in the dark. Thanks to the help of our guides Uncle Yusof and his crew we all managed to complete the walk sucessfully. Day 2 23 November 2009
We wake up at around 6.30am. After washing up, we go for Negaraku and morning exercise lead by Ivan and Tat Seng. After that, we had our lunch at the canteen. We are also required to fill in the blank from A to Z based on what you experience about Key Leader Camp. Then, Heidi brief us on taking risk and Uncle Yusof and his crew brief us about the safety on white water rafting. He taught us the way to grab a paddle, various command such as paddle forward/backward, hold on and BOM BOM!!! FYI, BOM BOM is the command where everyone had to squat down into the boat when there is rapid. After that, we are good to go. First we carried our boat to the Sg Kampar. Then all of us enjoy our body rafting. After body rafting, we go on to white water rafting which is the most exciting and enjoying part of this camp. We have to listen to the instructor command so that our boat will move in the rapid. However, there are still some people falling into the river but fortunately the instructor managed to save them. Back from white water rafting, we had our lunch and followed by talks on Personal Growth.. Then, we played a hula hoops game. We are required to bring the hula hoops down with our finger without talking which means we will need to communicate with eye sight or other way. We are allowed to discuss in our neighbourhood about tonight skit and create our ideal hometown. Then at night time, its time for us to present our ideal hometown and skit. Each group is given 3 criteria and they had to choreograph based on those criteria. After the skit, we went to canteen to enjoy our durian! It was delicious. Then, we gathered around the campfire and played truth or dare. Shrek and Princess Fiona were the spotlight that night. Everyone keep shouting their name and their "son" even want SHREK to go over to Princess Fiona. We would like to rectify that the white water rafting videos below are not our videos during this Key Leader Camp. They are videos clips taken from youtube by MyGopengResort.

Day 3 24 November 2009
This is the last day of the camp. After waking up and cleaning up, we sang our Negaraku and took our group picture. After that, we went to canteen for breakfast. After breakfast, we went to the the hall and enjoyed some slideshow during the camp. Heidi also let us play a few games outdoor like scissors paper stone in which the winner will grow from egg to chicken to human and finally master of universe. Its like egg=>chicken=>human=>master of universe. Then we played a very interesting game like sitting on other people. After that, we watched the end of Collector of Bedford Street and played the aeroplane game. We need to write something on the paper aeroplane and fly it to other people. After that, we write down our goals and and a letter to ourselves in 6 months time. Besides, we're signing on each other shirt. Finally its time for certificate giving ceremony and time to go home. We miss this camp, life without mobile signal, white water rafting, night jungle trekking and many many more from this camp. We love Key Leader Camp@MyGopengResort!!!Key Leader Camp ROCKS!!!
